This week in brief: Blasted by the Beast from the East; temperatures below minus 10 C; incessant winds of 30-60 mph; low visibility, no public transport, only the busiest arterial routes open to traffic. Not a good week for walking out with the camera. And so to resort to last year’s store.
Southwold Lighthouse stands proud of a huddle of houses which makes it a tad difficult to get a good shot of it in its entirety. But makes it ideal for ‘Look Up’ in the #2018picoftheweek photo challenge.
The photo, taken on a nondescript kind of blue day with nondescript clouds looked just too placid. And so the black & white treatment to add a touch of frisson.

Yes, indeed, the perspective is great!

I thank you. But it definitely needed the B&W treatment. It was all soft blues. Summery, not in keeping with the today.
BTW: Woke at 5:30 am to a white and quiet land. Quiet? Hooray! The ravening beast has flown away. (sorry if you’ve got it now)

I like it! I feel a crick in my neck just looking at it.

This was the best of several shots of the lighthouse. The longer shots were cluttered with telegraph wires and branches of trees etc. I thank did a total sharpen of it, increased contrast and . . . result
